After months of renovation, the newly refurbished Schierman’s Clubhouse and Event Center, located at 3225 Robinson Park Rd., is open for business.
Terry and Mary Schierman recently purchased the Slurp ‘n’ Burp Tavern, bringing the building back into the family after nearly a decade. The Slurp ‘n’ Burp was founded by Terry’s parents, Larry and Maxine Schierman, in 1969. Larry’s father sold the place in 1997, and Slurp ‘n’ Burp Tavern passed through the hands of several local residents before it closed in 2008.
When the property went back on the market, Terry happily bought it back.
They didn’t want to reopen the bar, and decided instead to turn it into a clubhouse and event center. Terry, who works for the city of Pullman’s operations department, began the long process of renovating the building. The bar was torn out, but the smell of tobacco smoke lingered, so he replaced the ceiling and, before long, replaced almost everything else in the building.
The facility boasts a full kitchen, and a patio and lawn area.
One of the best qualities of the event center is its location, the couple said. It’s outside the city limits, so groups who rent it don’t need a catering permit to serve alcohol there, and there are no neighbors nearby, so parties can have live music or other noisy entertainment without worry.
The full facility is available for rent for $50 an hour or $20 for the building’s smaller room. The building can be rented for 12 hours for $500.
