The University of Idaho and Washington State University have officially terminated their intercampus commuter shuttle agreement with Wheatland Express.
The universities announced today that they consider the $140,000-per-year contract, of which each institution paid half, no longer financially sustainable. They estimated the annual cost per rider at more than $800 based on the previous contract.
The shuttle service was established in the early 1990s to help students, staff, faculty and community members move between the two campuses.
Moscow Valley Transit service will not be affected by the shuttle’s elimination, and no Wheatland Express employees will lose their jobs.
